I’m sure many of you out there has watched the Unicorn OVA and think. WOW! Epic soundtrack! Indeed it is and fans can finally rejoice as the Original Soundtrack (OST) has just been launched recently. I’ve listened to the whole album and it really lives up to hopes. To me, only an epic soundtrack would do for such an epic series. They delivered. The music is mostly orchestral, instrumental with a slight modern touch to follow the Gundam theme. There are lovely choir voices such as in UNICORN (Track 2), LICHT MEER (Track 23) and ZERO GRAVITY (Track 24). Some tracks have stand out instruments such as LICHT MEER (Track 23) with the pipe organs and MARIDA (Track 7) with the deep melancholic piano. There is also a singing piece which has an amazing orchestral background on A LETTER (Track 8). There are also some electronic influences like in MOBILE SUIT (Track 5). All in all, there are 24 tracks to keep you listening. The tunes range from fast epic tunes to slow dramatic ones. The fast epic ones seriously keep you on your toes while the dramatic ones are well, dramatic (nothing else to replace it is there?). My recommendations without a doubt go to UNICORN (Track 2) and ZERO GRAVITY(Track 24 – essentially a slowed down more dramatic version of UNICORN). Both tracks are very well done, epic and inspiring. UNICORN is the second track  so it keeps you going with the album while ZERO GRAVITY is the last track going off nicely. Definitely the album for fans and newcomers alike. I guess this is the kind off stuff which constantly keeps Gundam in front of the mech race.
