Gunpla Clear Mania + Something Extra

16 05 2010

Yay! Finally got my new fix of Limited Edition Clear Color MGs for the next batch of builds after my MG Strike Rouge Clear Color. 🙂

Best of all, I got them for a discounted price. 😀

First of all is this,

Kit Name: MG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. 2.0 Clear Color Version (Expo Edition)

Kit Price:

Kit Status: Released, Gunpla Expo 2009

Kit Availability: Limited Edition

Second MG RX-78-2 Gundam to my collection after my currently owned MG RX-78-2 Gundam Smoked Mechanical Clear Edition. XD

Initial Thoughts?

Initial thoughts on the kit are very good. The quality of the clear parts on this kit is very good and like all the other recent clear color kits, this kit’s clear parts are also UV reactive so that means it looks incredible under sunlight of a UV Light Base. If you were looking to build a clear kit this is the one I’ll most probably recommend because of the frame which goes everywhere from the head to the hips. The below picture should give you a “clear” idea. 😉

Like all the other clear MG kits, the frame is in a solid color and molded with a special gun metal finish. Sadly, the coating can be easily scratched of by sanding or filing. If you are no big fan, you can always opt to re-color the whole frame.

Discounted price you say? But, isn’t this a Limited Edition Kit?

Yup, it is a Limited Edition Kit which doesn’t have a price tag as you can see below,

Only 2 chain of numbers, non following means no retail price. Still, when it comes to Limited Edition kits, I always use the price of the original kit as reference. The standard Mg Rx-78-2 Gundam Ver. 2.0 costs around 4200 Yen. Still, I managed to get mine for 3800 Yen. Only a 10% discount but, one has to take into consideration that this is a Limited Edition Kit and many are willing to pay double the price of the standard kit. That is, if they were willing to sell. Well, that’s the wonders of the internet. 😀

Conclusion?

Great kit! Sadly, like I forgot to mention, this kit isn’t mine, brother’s one.

This next one is mine though,

Kit Name: MG Destiny Gundam Clear Color Ver. (Expo Edition)

Kit Price:

Kit Status: Released, Gunpla Expo 2009

Kit Availability: Limited Edition

Also a second MG Destiny to the collection, the first is MG Destiny Extreme Blast Mode

Initial Thoughts?

Great! The clear color parts are very good. Also UV reactive so, it looks amazing under sunlight. My favourite part of this kit is the armour which is molded in smoked clear and the back pack. Clear red wings, clear green cannon and clear blue sword, you get the picture.

Discounted price you say? But, isn’t this a Limited Edition Kit?

Yup, it is a Limited Edition Kit which doesn’t have a price tag as you can see below,

Also no retail price at the end, but remember these numbers and they are surprisingly close to the one shown before this from the MG Rx-78-2 Gundam Clear Color kit. I’ve yet to figure out the meaning but, if you know, could you please tell?

Anyways, like the previous kit, the reference price for this kit is 4800 Yen which is the base model’s retail price. I got this kit for 3800 Yen also. This time, a 20% discount and a definite steal. If only I could find more cheap Gunpla.

Conclusion?

I wasn’t a fan of Destiny’s design before this but, this kit is an exception. Tells you just how different the impact of this kit is. Oh, I forgot to mention. The stand is also clear. 😉

Last but not least, my shipment from Japan finally arrived! 😀

Kit Name: 1/24 Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32)

Kit Price: 1900 Yen

Gunpla isn’t the only interest I have you know. Could never find this kit over at my place so I needed it to be shipped in straight from Japan. Lucky, for a contact of mine who could do it for me without charging delivery costs. 🙂

Right out of the box, the amount of work that needs to be done for this kit is noticeably a lot. No surprise there. Now, I’m just looking for that 1/24 Nissan Skyline Z-Tune (R34).

Pretty soon, 1/24 wouldn’t do anymore, only 1/1 will.
